The Summer Hogs are early!

To my friends in the Ft. Lauderdale area: I will be performing at Chester's Harley Davidson this Saturday afternoon. Come check out the hogs, the cool merchandise, and enjoy some classic acoustic rock served up by yours truly.

Too far north? Come to the End of School Days celebration at Homefield Sports Bar & Grill on June 7. My friends Frankin's Wheel will be taking the stage, and I'll be playing between their sets. Hope to see you there!

We got the Gist!

Last night after Iris and I went WingFlying around Black Point Marina, we decided to grab dinner at the Grill. I heard a wonderful acoustic sound as I approached. Ah, good live music! This duo was awesome. They're called the Gist, with my new friend Brett on the guitar, accompanied by an absurdly talented bassist. These guys meshed so good, playing a great selection of songs with a lot of great stuff from my favorite decade, the 70s. He saw me singing, asked me if I played, and when I said yes, he invited me up and let me serenade my wife with her Goo Goo Dolls' namesake, "Iris". :-)

It was an honor and a lot of fun, and I couldn't agree more with his philosophy: "Mean people suck. Be nice to one another. Get to know someone knew and make a friend." This we certainly did last night. And I'm sure we will be friends for a long time! I owe you a return sit-in, Brett! Any gig, any time!

Look them up. "The Gist". Top notch acoustic rock!!!

Dirty's Got Talent

Well, Fern and I took a shot at an America's Got Talent contest called "Dirty's Got Talent" (named after the bar where it was held - Dirty Martini's up in Palm Beach). The winner of the contest would win plane tickets to an AGT audition with a guaranteed viewing by the judges. We made it all the way to the finals but the contest was won by a local rock band. It seemed close, but something seemed "dirty" about "Dirty's Got Talent". One of the band members was hugging one of the judges before the contest, and the band was given over an hour to set up while Fern and I were given only 10 minutes! Hmm. Well, regardless, it was a good experience. Even though the AGT auditions never came to Florida this year, we'll keep our eyes open!

In the meantime, I'm continuing with the solo gigs (mostly private, as you can see in the upcoming events), but if another public gig pops up I'll post it and let everyone know! Thanks to everyone for supporting me (and Fernando!), especially Ruth Marrero and her husband for driving all the way out there to cheer us on!

Happy Spring, everyone!

Goodbye, 2012, Hello 2013

2012 was a great year. Thanks again to all my friends for going to my public gigs! This year may see more private gigs than last, but keep coming out to the public shows! It really inspires me to keep doing those shows in addition to the private stuff. Anyway, this year's musical resolutions: (1) videos! (nothing fancy, just me and the guitar) (2) submit a video to some of the music competitions on TV (everyone keeps bugging me to, and I'd love to give it a shot just to know I tried), (3) record an all acoustic original album, (4) record a bunch of my acoustic covers. One of my goals was to busk on the streets, but I found out you can get arrested for it if a cop wants to be a jerk about it. (Most cops aren't, but uh... I think I'll stick to the regular gigs for now!) Happy 2013!

One Public gig in December only

Luckily I have a lot of gigs lined up for the holidays. But they are, as usual for this time of year, private parties. I only have 1 public gig on December 1st, at the Sports Grill on the Green. Come on out, enjoy the best wings in the world, and some good classic rock mixed with a few Christmas tunes. Hope to see you there!
